Abstrak:Warming up is the foundation of a successful training session or game. Warming up for soccer must include activities that raise the total body temperature, as well as the temperature of the muscles, in order to prepare the body for the game or training session. New muscle research findings from Australia support the theory that static stretching decreases muscle eccentric strength for up to an hour after the stretch. Obviously, eccentric strength is vital in the production of power for a soccer player and yet it has been shown that static stretching reduced muscular strength by 9% as long as 60 minutes after the stretch..

Key words:  Warming up, static stretching, dynamic stretching.
